Isostatic pressing of ceramics
Cerafast expertise is in dry cold isostatic pressing. We use semi-isostatic pressing as a forming technique in order to guarantee pressing uniformity which is essential to achieve optimized mechanical performances as well as good dimensional features.
We can ensure repeatability of the dimensions and geometry specification in series production through a strict selection of the pressing powders as well as a perfect control of the pressing tools. And optimized sintering process guarantees to achieve the physical properties of the products.
This process when associated with tailored sintering techniques can ensure to get linearity and concentricity within one micron. It is particularly suited for the manufacturing of pistons, cylinders, tubes, sleeves, seats in aluminium oxide (alumina) and Y-TZP zirconium oxide (zirconia) ceramics in medium to large quantities.
Our standard range of dimension capabilities:
- outside diameter from 0.5 to 15 mm
- length : 1.5 to 100 mm
As-fired precision :
- internal diameter : +/- 0.02 mm – with a repeatability of < 10 µm within a same batch of production
Precision after diamond-grinding :
- length : +/-0.03 mm
- external diameter : +/- 0.01 mm
- minimum wall thickness = 0.3 mm
